The Pontifical Mission Society, Colombo, organized a three day seminar titled, “Jesus As Teacher”, on the 26th, 27th and 29th August 2005 at Ampitiya Seminary, Kandy. The programme was sponsored by Catholic National Commission for Missionary Activity with the aim to build the awareness of catholic teachers about Christianity and inspire them to achieve their mission. To do this, members of the Centre For Performing Arts were invited to take part as performers to help participants understand the message of the seminar

 
     
 

The chief guest for the program was the Sri Lanka Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Most Rev. Archbishop Mario Zenari, with the guest of honour being the Badulla Bishop Most Rev. Dr. J. Vinston S.Fernando.

The second day of the program was organized and facilitated by Rev. Rf. Tony Martin. It started with members of CPA Panadura performing traditional Sinhala dances to welcome the VIP’s from the entrance to the hall.

Soon after the opening ceremony, Colombo CPA and Pandarura CPA members jointly performed a welcome dance on the stage with a live band. On stage together, where members of the Colombo CPA, who were performing a traditional Tamil dance, whilst at the same time, members of Panadura CPA were performing a traditional Sinhala routine.

In the evening of the second day’s session, s a continues programme, a wordless play set to music, titled, “Jesus As Teacher”, was performed by Colombo CPA members. Ms. Josita Peter, a teacher from the Colombo CPA School of Fine Arts directed the play. At the conclusion of the play, Fr Tony Martin led a discussion about the play with over 700 audience members.
