A group of 60
artistes from 20 CPArts Centres in
different parts of Srilanka gathered together in Jaffna for 10 days
in December 2010 to prepare for three mimed, wordless performances
of ASHOKA that were later held in Jaffna (18thDec) , Vavuniya (19th
Dec) and Colombo ( 20th Dec). The Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim youth
took part in training workshops and rehearsal sessions in a spirit
of fellowship and togetherness, overcoming all barriers of language,
religion, and other differences. They trained under the able guidance
of Mr.Johnson Rajkumar, Deputy Director of CPA.
ASHOKA is the story of the warrior
king of India who experienced conversion in his later life to
Buddhism.
