The
social cost of the war is far greater as the prevailing armed
conflict has impacted the whole nation for many generations to
come. The children have been impacted both physically and psychologically
creating trauma and depression. To intervene these problems under
this SDC fund CPArts implement this project of having 450 children
as the target group selected from under privileged families from
the districts of Jaffna and Pollonaruwa. The main goal is focused
to benefit to improve the personality, develop positive coping
skills, develop leadership qualities and help to develop independent
thinking in a protective environment to children. The activities
of the project also creates awareness among the parents on social
and parental responsibilities and strengthen the formed children
clubs/theaters by teaching creative arts to children by trained
animators. Special programs like peace camps strengthen, mutual
understanding, reconciliation and a desire for co-existence among
children from multi ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
