Centre
for performing Arts, Kandy held a peace festival at the Hindu
cultural Hall, Kandy on 28th and 29th October 2005. Children,
youths and coordinators of CPArts came from Anuradhapura, Pollonaruwa.
Avissawella, Moneragala, Hambantota, Ratnapura, Galle, Matara,
Panadura and Kandy. More than 250 children were present. Representatives
from centers in the north and east took part. A book in sinhala
entitled “Avarjana’ was launched on the first day.
Centers presented songs and plays depicting evils in the society,
sufferings due to war and Tsunami and the significance of peace.
On the second day Quiz competition was held among the youths to
develop their knowledge. Questions were related to general knowledge
and the history of the CPArts. They were also allowed to exchange
their views. By this they come to know each other well and it
paves the way to unity and cooperation. Further it is worthy to
mention that venerable Buddhist monks from Dalada Maligawa were
among the distinguished guests. They praised the services done
by the CPArts towards peace and harmony. They commended the action
taken by the Center to develop the latent art talents in the children.
